Welcome!

Introductions

Hi there! I’m Katherine Anne Payson.

I’m a Christian, kitty mama, history buff, animal lover, Indie author, and aspiring voiceover artist. And I live with my mother and brother in the upper Midwestern United States. My daily life involves beating my head against a keyboard for hours at a time, hoping that a book comes out, making promos for my book, and snuggling my pets, Spirit, my Eskie dog, who is almost 13, and Berlioz, my rescue kitten who my brother found living under our house.

I’ve loved books for my entire life and wrote my first book when I was nine years old. It was a simple story about a penguin who would rather spend his time in his cave, where there was fish to eat than huddling up with the other penguins for warmth, and because of this, he has blue toes and a blue nose.

Despite this, I am actually dyslexic and didn’t even learn to read until I was seven or eight. When I was little, I would beg my mom, brother, grandparents, and pretty much anyone else I could find to read to me. I can only imagine that it was a great relief when I learned to read myself, starting out with the Magic Tree House books.

Around the time I started high school, I took a hiatus from writing, failing to finish anything I started, as I pushed to graduate at sixteen. I finally came back to writing in late 2017, when I had a dream in which I was a spy in a Steampunk setting that was so vivid, and interesting, I knew I had to write it down.

It took far more work than I could have imagined, but I self-published The Shoreline of Memory on July 4th, 2020.

I am currently working on finishing the sequel, which I hope to release before summer.

This is where I will talk about writing, life as an Indie author, and, of course, my books. You should also expect me to talk about my pets and interesting history tidbits. I would love it if you would like to follow along with me on this adventure! You can also find my author pages on Facebook and Instagram below. I hope I see you there!

Have a great day, and keep writing!
