Welcome!

Promos-an often thankless task

Hi there! I hope all is well with you!

Promos. The one word that causes creative people to shudder regardless of their respective talents. Is it really worth it? I've heard so, but I must admit, that can be pretty hard to believe sometimes.

How about an honest look at where I am in my promo game right now? Maybe it'll make you feel better about your own promos, or maybe it'll just help keep me humble.

My average blog post currently receives 2-3 views.

My average Instagram post, no more than 1 "heart."

My average Facebook (author) post, 1 like.

My average promo 1-2 likes.

And for all but the Instagram post, at least one of every one of those stats is from my mom.

To date, I've sold 84 books from Amazon, and 61 of those were on free book promotions. As of yet this month, I've made no sales, and more often than not, I sell less than a book a month.

Yet, I keep posting promos. One Facebook author, blog, and Instagram post a week, not to mention posting promos to three different Facebook pages.

Why? Because I hope that one day, I'll look back on this post, and know I've grown as an author. That people are reading my books and enjoying them. And that all my hours of post-prepping were not in vain.

Sorry, if this seems like a bummer, especially after last week's post. But this is an honest reality check, especially for any other relatively new authors who are disappointed by how few "reads" or sales they are getting.

You are not alone, even if it feels like it. Do not give up on your book. One day people will start reading your books, just be patient, and keep up hope.

Have a great day, and keep writing (and posting those promos!)
