Welcome!

Writing, reading, and repeat

Hello again!

This week I've been caught in an endless cycle of reading, editing, proofing, tweaking, and so on. Which leads to an interesting fact about me: I've never read my trilogy... at least not for fun, and not since it was finished.

By the time the trilogy was finished... or even from the time I finished the first book, I had read, re-read, and tweaked everything so many times I simply couldn't set down to read it. I knew every line by heart. And I still know almost every line by heart. To be perfectly honest, I don't know if I'll ever actually read it for pleasure.

Now, on to what I was actually going to talk about; writing is just about equal parts editing, proofing, and actual writing, or at least, that is how it feels for me. I've been writing, proofing, editing, and now I've found that I need to make a timeline, and you know what that means? Re-reading it again, making more notes, before I start editing again.

Please don't misunderstand, I really am not complaining, but it feels almost painfully repetitive, and frankly, it's odd reading something you've written yourself. I can't seem to just read, I'm always correcting, or coming up with things, I could tweak, and at the exact same time, I can never seem to grasp that I actually wrote it. It's almost like its equal parts things I should change, and something that must have dropped out of the sky onto the page, and that's odd.

Long story short? Writing is a strange way to spend your time, and even now, I can't seem to figure out what it means to be an author... But I'm excited to keep spending my time continuing to find out!

Have a great day, and keep writing!
