Hello again! Yet again, I'm sorry about the break in posting. I honestly thought I'd scheduled posts through the end of October, and I only realized I'd forgotten to actually write them a few days ago. Again, so sorry about that huge oversight.
This is going to be another one of my "letters to myself", but as always, you are welcome to read along with me, in case something lands for you as well.
"Dear overworked editing brain,
I know you're desperately busy, and I know how little time you have free, but I'm afraid this is important. Remember all those promos you were supposed to be posting? You know, the ones you so often forget to schedule or maintain. Well, I'm afraid I've got some bad news for you. You can't sell books if you aren't bold enough to actually post about them. It's a cruel truth, but the books can't actually sell themselves, so we are going to have to start making it a priority.
I know how exhausting it is for you to spend hours prepping photos, writing posts, and scheduling/actively posting promos, only to find them ignored. I also know how awkward it feels to spend so much time and effort talking up our own books. But at least if we go through all that work, there's a chance for people to learn about our books.
And let's be honest for a second here, you and I both know there's a lot more to being an Indie author in 2025 than simply writing a book. So it's time we face facts; if we want to call ourselves authors, we're going to have to put in the work to sell our books.
