Hello again!
I'm going to apologize from the top for the misleading title, there is nothing geographic about this post, you can write whenever and wherever you want to, but that's not actually what the title means.
Many years ago, I was trying to learn to play the guitar, and my grandfather, who is incredibly talented on the guitar, told me something I've never forgotten, and I thought I'd share it with you today, as it is just as applicable to writing.
He said to use the guitar to express myself, if I was angry, I should play angry, if I was sad, I should play sadly, happy-happily, etc... Today, I'd like to suggest you don't shoehorn your writing into a mold, but let your mood influence your work; you can always change it later in the edit.
I can honestly say some of my rawest, purest lines of dialogue have come from writing where I was, not where I should have been, and not even where my characters should be, but by letting myself feel, for myself, and my characters.
Writing, for me, uses every emotion I have, it's exhausting, it's beautiful, and it's incredible. My characters have taught me so much, but only because I let them. Let your work mirror your emotions, let your words come out on the page, and let that change you.
Have a great day, and keep writing!
