Welcome!

Back to editing

Hello again!

I'm going to start out by apologizing for the fact that this post is late. I meant to write and schedule it last week, but I kept forgetting, so now I'm playing catch-up, which is far from ideal.

Now, as for the actual post, I thought I'd talk about something I am currently working through-getting back into editing after taking a break.

I've talked before about how I try to prep for editing while my Beta readers are hard at work, but even with all the prep in the world, I always find it a little intimidating to get back into actually working on the book. After all, what if I've forgotten how to edit? (This may sound silly, but it is an honest fear that I face every single time I get back from a break.)

With this in mind, if I had to give one piece of advice to anyone who is facing getting back into writing/editing after a break, it would be not to worry about it too much. Yes, writing is a skill that, should ideally be practiced all the time, but for most people that is neither practical nor possible. And it is true, that you could be a little rusty depending on how long it's been, but I promise you that if you muscle through it-as hard and excruciating as that may be, you will get through it, and you will get back in practice. And you will ultimately be a better writer for it.

Have a great day, and keep writing!
