Hello again!
Do you remember when I first started my series on "The Little Things?" At the time, it really was meant to be a personal exercise in gratitude, a few minutes I would set aside every month to reflect on any growth or victories I'd had as an author.
Since then, I started to count this series as a quick easy post I could make without a ton of effort. Writing them has largely ceased to be about personal reflection or gratitude, and it became a quick and easy "humble brag" or an excuse for why I hadn't achieved much that month. I hoped that the "honesty" and "positivity" would attract other authors, and the updates would drive hype for my books, but all the while I lost sight of the point of these posts.
And here I sit today, (Nov 19th) with one day to write my post. Once again, I'm facing another third Wednesday, another post on The Little Things. Quite honestly, I don't have a ton to share this month, I've had a few unexpected delays with some of my Beta readers, and due to some personal issues, I've struggled to make much ground in my editing.
All of this has led me to this point, as I sit here reflecting on The Little Things. I'm honestly glad that I have Beta readers who are actually willing to read my books this time around (trust me, that's rarer than it sounds) and I'm excited to share that I'm actually starting to get some of the Beta edits done. But... that's about it.
I do hope that someday, I have readers who are eager to share their own "Little Things" so we can all celebrate together, but until I reach that point, I'm going to try to work on getting back into that mindset myself.
Have a great day, and keep writing!
