Hello again! Sorry about the spotty posting lately. There's been a lot on my plate and keeping up with regular posting slipped to the back of my list of priorities, but I'm back now!
This is going to be another letter to myself, but as always, you are welcome to read along to see if any of this lands for you.
Dear Author/Plotting Brain,
I know you yearn to write something that's going to change the world, even if it's just for one person. And I know you think you need to write something that will rattle the foundations of genre and literary perception for all time... but I'd like to recommend we try starting a little smaller.
You know as well as I, that we've told ourselves stories since we were tiny. Little ones to entertain, and bigger ones to help us through the hard times. You know how badly we wished we could see our EDS in the characters we read. And how many times we wished we could find a story that said X, Y, or Z, because that's what we needed to hear. My dear writing/plotting brain, we're not children anymore. We grew up to become a writer... an author.
It's likely that our books won't reform the idea of what a book is, but we can tell our stories... the ones we once needed so badly ourselves, (and sometimes still do.) And just maybe, if we do that... we might be able to reach someone who is searching, just as we were.
Fondly,
Your introspective, dreamy-eyed self.
Have a great day, and keep writing!
