Welcome!

Slogging through the middle

Hello again! Sorry about the break in posting, but I'm back now!

Have you ever noticed that the middle of a story is one of the hardest parts to write? If you're like me or 90% of the internet, I'm sure you have.

To be honest, I used to regularly abandon my WIP's when I reached the middle. The initial excitement of writing a new story had worn off, and I was often too far away from the dramatic climax to be spurred on. Sometimes I would skip ahead to the next exciting part, but that only delays the inevitable; actually writing the book.

And this is the point in the post where I'm supposed to give you some incredible trick, or a beautiful encouragement... but I can't. Writing the middle of a story is hard, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth it. And while I could try to expound on the virtues of patience, at the end of the day it really is up to you to find a way to finish the story. Even when it's hard and boring.

One thing I can tell you? If you manage to finish one story, that feeling will never completely leave you. And THAT is the real reward for perseverance. Another book in the world, even if you never share it with a single soul, you'll know it's there, and that's a wonderful thing.

Have a great day, and keep writing!
